So the husband and I whisked ourselves away to Melbourne over the Anzac weekend partly in the hope of escaping the 'work'-home (it's not that bad), but more so to catch up with our beloved friends and family under the guise of a holiday. We seem to have brought the chilly Sydney weather with us but no one seemed to care.
Firstly, thanks so much to the lovely Dianna (and Wan) for being so very very hospitable and giving us so much of your time even though you had assessments and exams coming up. We felt very loved - not to mention being warm, well-dressed, and well-fed!
We flew in early on Friday morning (due to Joel's non-existent thursday night basketball commitments *grumble+mwah*) and took the Skybus to be greeted by Di and Wan at Southern Cross Station. Gotta love the ease of Melbourne transport. Then we begin a huge weekend of overeating with brunch at the cozy Cafe Sweethearts in South Melbourne, followed by a stroll in Alfred Park.

Most shops were closed given the public holiday so we lazed around in Di's comfy apartment, singing Disney tunes while the boys played 'Game of Knowledge' (apparently for 12 year olds), and I had fun curling Di's hair and getting pretty for our dinner date at Nobu @ Crown with Gene and her friends.
I didn't take many pictures of the food (sorry Muz), and none which even came close to doing their tastes any justice. My recommendations are definitely the black cod in miso, and the beef tataki. Absolutely-melt-in-your-mouth- amazing.
Pictured below - wagyu beef, and chocolate spring rolls.

Group photo by a nice waiter! This is the only company I've ever kept who have tasted (and do not recommend) 'sake aged to classical music'!!! We opted for some citrus infused one instead but I still have a long way to go in my sake-appreciation I believe.

(Thanks for letting me borrow my entire outfit Di!)

Saturday morning wake-me-ups at a scrumptious creperie in Melbourne's beloved little laneways.

I just had to take the photo below in memory of the 101 business ideas Cynth and I used to have while in high-school and uni. This was right on the ball - a soupbar/juicebar that is perfect no matter what the weather is like...jealous!!

So much graffiti in Melbourne, even these garbage bins look like some kind of artwork.

One of my favourites, seems so Melbourne-esque...

And a bit more laneway-love as we headed back to the car...

I think the photo-taking dropped off somewhere about there and the eating increased ten-fold. Met up with Joel's relatives for a shopping spree in the Nike Employee store where there was 50% off all new-season stock, followed by a massive dinner in Burwood, which was then topped off by a chocolate overload at one of Melbourne's numerous chocolat cafes - Koko Black. We had the Chilli Hot Chocolate and it seriously burns through your ears!

Sunday was again spent overeating this time with my side of the family, and then catching up with Irma at a spanish tapas cafe - Bebida, followed by spanish chocolate and churros at San Churro.

What a delightful whirlwind weekend! Let me know if you have any friends who might be getting married in Melbourne - the place looks so lovely and interesting to photograph and I love the Melbournian style.
...Stay tuned for more arty ones on Joel's blog, including more of Di's other half and a detour with Irma to 'My Beautiful Laundrette' for the cheapest laundry prices in Melbourne!

Attended the wedding of Tim & Jen on the weekend and it was such a lovely day. Despite forecasts of rain and the prelude of a grey week, they were blessed with beautiful weather and reportedly the rain held up whenever they were outdoors. I didn't take many photos at all, but since I brought my camera, couldn't help snapping a few, especially when there are cuties like this around!

Here's Jen's brother Andrew and his lady Moni before the ceremony began...

And a quick snap as they walk by....as husband and wife! Congratulations!! xx

Loved their program covers, very cute!

Introducing Michael&Michael! One's my dad, the other is everyone's little darling!

I hadn't had a Saturday arvo to myself in a while so it was lovely to spend some time hanging out with friends yum cha-ing in Chatswood after the service, and then relaxing at home designing albums. It's very therapeutic!
Here's their yummy cake! Food was excellent at Sky Phoenix as usual, and for once I finally got to try the 'Double Happiness Fancy Cakes' which were rich butter cookies in my book - just the way I like them.

Wedding Games: Guess Who?!

At some point during the night, I was roaming around camera in hand just looking around. My mum comes out to check on me as she does...so I get her to co-operate and I so love these photos coz my mum never lets me takes photos of her and she's usually dressed down. Anyway, she's taken to watching hours and hours of Korean drama of late, and the lighting was soft so I said "pretend like you're in a Korean drama!"

...and this was the hilarious result!

And I'll close with a couple of the more demure ones of the sexysweet li'l becbec...

I love weekends, and there's a long one coming up! Will be in Melbourne for most of it catching up with friends and family, and my tastebuds are looking forward to trying out Nobu on friday night...yum. xx
Well I didn't quite attend Wes' christening, but here are some of my favourite images from the lovely morning tea held at his grandparents house after the ceremony to celebrate!

...and the home-made walnut tarts pictured here were amazing (although I'm a bit of a dork and took one bite and ended up with cream all over my nose haha!)

Wesley and his loving parents (what a photogenic family!)

Here he is again with his godparents. Georgie here took a bit of a career break and has been an air hostess with Emirates for the past year or so....her photos from everywhere around the world make me want her job! And she always tries to fly back from Dubai for big occasions such as these (it was wonderful to see you! xx)

Absolutely love this one.

And this one! Wesley's big sister Charlotte keeping her grandparents entertained...

And here's Charlotte again with her favourite...raisins! A whole plateful!

This one cracks me up....

Paul & Brad, thanks so much for letting me share in another big stage of your family's life, everything was just beautiful. And....I think I need to ask your mum for her walnut tart recipe they were really, really good!
