Bindy + Jules: Married!

Bindy and Jules' wedding was the first family/ relative wedding Joel and I had officially done and we were looking forward to hanging out with half of the guests under the guise of being wedding photographers hehe! They had chosen to have a sweet and simple wedding without a bridal party and all held on the one location, officiated by their own minister and it was an amazing day. Be prepared for a long-ish post, it was too hard to cull this one!!

Bindy looked soooo beautiful in this Pronovias gown and the light in their home was lovely to work with...

Loved these dainty little flowers, the ones on the left are real, and the ones on the right are made with sugar by the talented Faye Cahill. This cake was amazing, if you got within 10 metres of it you could smell the rich chocolate aroma!!

Beautiful speeches all round. I love speeches, you get to know so much about the couple and their families and what is important to them, and Bindy and Jules are truly very special people...

These macarons were gigantic and delicious, I had them for brekky the day after :P

The weather humoured us on the day. We were really grateful it didn't bucket down during the ceremony but as soon as the formalities were over it started to spit, and then began to come down in sheets....but these guys were awesome and decided that wasn't going to stop them...so here goes our little shoot in the rain, shooting until my fingers got wrinkly!!

Travel Destinations 2010

A couple of months ago there was hardly any airtime planned save for a wedding in Hong Kong that I had intended to stretch into a little end of year holiday with the hubby, possibly detouring to Vietnam or Japan before coming back to Sydney for 2011. Somehow 2010 has taken me by surprise, and I am very very delighted to announce my travel schedule for the year...

Thank you to the wonderful couples who love my work enough to bring me over to where they will be, I can't wait to absorb it all, and also indulge in more travel photography which is always entirely refreshing.

Bolivia won't be for work though, Joel and I were excited to find out the Tan family will be going back with a team from their local church mid-year and have decided to join them. I hope to document a bit more of what's happening in that part of the world, and also am really looking forward to see how all the kids are, I hope I still recognise them! For those of you who are curious, or just want to reminisce with me, here's some of my memories from our last trip with them in 2006 - Sucre, Presto, Pancoche, and Villa Margarita.

Can't wait for the rest of the year to unfold.....much love!! xx

The Knot!

Excited to be on The Knot's top 10 list for photography!!! I'm not quite sure I deserve to be rubbing shoulders with the amazing talent in that list but you won't hear me complaining!

Suze + Noods: Married!

Joel and I have known Suze and Noods for quite a while through different ways. They both went to high school with our mutual friends, though I first met Suze through dance and did a little bit of work for Noods' company Random BlowUp a few years ago as well. Joel played indoor soccer with Noods for a little while, and of course, who hasn't seen Suze's food crazy blog ChocolateSuze (also made with love by the husband haha!)

So here we go, introducing Suze, the best way I know how!

In an ode to Suze's foodcrazy heritage, they put on an awesome rainbow coloured, sweet saturated, lolly-themed wedding, to the delight of all involved. Here is a snippet of their ceremony and reception invites...

I arrived to the making of....lollipop boutonnieres! Lacquered for good measure, and a smart move given the heat!

...even the shoes were made from Candy!! okay lame I know :D

They held their ceremony in a small little garden setting which was perfect. Noods soaking up some sun with his besties/groomsmen/colleagues...

Yep it's done. Finally!

After much deliberation about whether I have the discipline to upkeep yet another page I have jumped on the bandwagon and created what I would prefer to call a 'friend-page' on facebook! As I write this it's just me, my bestie, and my bestie's little sister so feel free to come and keep us company!!

I plan to ultimately transition all my announcements, news, promos, and snippets onto the business page (as opposed to running it through my personal one so I don't end up spamming you) so do stay in touch and feel free to browse around I've tried to put some pretty eye candy there for you too!

Leslie & Dru: Married!!

When I think of this couple, the first thing that comes to mind are smiles. Big smiles, and lots of laughter for good measure! Ever since their funky engagement shoot I had been looking forward to seeing this gorgeous couple again in all their wedding glow!

Love this shot of Leslie, with the detail of her dress just coming through (good pick Mama Sitjar, the dress was perfect!)

The wonderful Tina Piltz came to help me out on the day, and she did a marvellous job hanging with the boys and dealing out nicknames by the end of the session! I'm glad she understood what was going on here (something to do with The Hangover and the boys loved it!) but unfortunately I gave her a quizzical look when she tried to explain....sorry haha!

Honestly one of the best services I have been to. The minister was entirely inclusive and explained what was happening for those who might not be so sure what was going on, he was pretty entertaining too!

Rockin' it out! Massive props to the couple who went to a custom made framing place to have the chalkboard framed in an old school photo frame. Loved it!!!

Very pretty details!!! I adored the illustrations, I believe they were done by Dru's cousin, so well done if you are reading this!

The best bombonierre/placecards ever!! I was stoked to find my very own 'tealilyphotography' coasters on my seat as well, thanks guys - I am using them for my multiple hot drinks every day!!!

LOVE! We set up a little corner of the room for some fun images!!

Oh I loved this band - Brown Sugar. The first I heard from them were the sounds of Eric Benet & Tamia's 'Spend My Life With You' which was also sung at my own wedding so it has a special place with me. This band rocked the house...I wanted to stay longer just for the playlist :D

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Hope you are having the honeymoon of your life in the Carribean and Cuba and the rest of the other crazycool places you guys have lines up, can't wait to see you when you get back!! xx

Rochelle & Chris: Engaged!

I was told a long time ago to choose a hairdresser based on how good her own hair looks. So one day I decided I was sick of asian hairdressers making me look like a had a thinning mullet and walked into a Toni&Guy for a bit of a change. A beautiful smile adorned with equally beautiful blonde locks greeted me as the stylist and I was immediately at ease. We chatted a bit and before long I had Rochelle along to one of my creative shoots, and was delighted when she recently asked me to take some engagement piccies for her and here they are!

Although I've been snapping for a while and have been to almost every beach to do so, I've never shot at Bondi, probably because I think it's always going to be packed with tourists. In any case, Bondi was our location of choice as Chris had proposed to her right at this spot not too long ago....how pretty does Sydney look right here!

Thanks to the sea breeze, Rochelle pulled off a great number of hairstyles that day and rocked them all :)

Chris and Rochelle had brought a long a little chalkboard so they could get a head start on their thank you cards for their engagement party, talk about organised!!

And balloons! Who doesn't love balloons, we took them out for a stroll on the water with Icebergs in the background where they had dinner the night Chris popped the question.

Congratulations to the both of you, you guys are going to make an amazing bride and groom! Thanks for being silly, getting windblown, and getting your new dress wet for the shoot, I hope it was all worth it!! xx

What a beautiful family...it was such a quiet and peaceful afternoon and sitting there soaking it in seemed to be the best way to spend it. At least now before she starts finding her own feet and keeping everyone on their toes!

Bubbles & Buttons: Engaged!

Hehe I hope Asmita and Sanjev are not wanting to strangle me over the title of this post but I just couldn't help it! This lovely couple are being wed in Melbourne but I had the pleasure of doing a fun little engagement shoot here in Sydney for them, full of personality that was so them!

So apparantly Asmita never finishes a book she picks up, and Sanj is meant to be learning Hindi. It might be because they keep getting distracted by sneaking in kisses but here they are at their favourite cafe....

...just hamming it up for the lens!

Then off for playtime! Asmita thought to include bubbles in her shoot because although they are not the couple to call each other endearing names when no one is around, but just for kicks, Sanj will call her 'Bubbles' at the strangest of times just to see her react and she retaliates with 'Buttons'! But I couldn't agree more, she is the bubbliest of them all!!!

Being silly. The idea popped into my head and I laughed at myself because of the obvious cheesiness but they wanted to know why I suddenly burst out laughing and insisted they oblige....you definitely gotta be one cool kinda couple to pull this silliness off hehe!!

Asmita really wanted to climb a tree and she looks rather happy up there!

It was a really muggy sorta day by the beach but I think these tones work beautifully...

Silver Party 2010

Last night I had the pleasure of volunteering to help photograph the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation Silver Party 2010. It was a splendid affair, hosted at Otto in Woolloomoolloo and packed out to the max. Since 2006, this event has supported the hospital's Emergency Department, raising funds to employ an additional specialist doctor, and also to continue to raise the quality of healthcare through training and education throughout Sydney and rural NSW. Thought I'd share a few of my fave snaps from the evening....

Marissa & Adrian: Married!

I had been looking forward to Marissa and Adrian's wedding for a long while, after having such a ball with them at their engagement shoot. They were really comfortable to be around, and I hope I made them feel that way too!! Arriving to Marissa's home and seeing her casually cross-legged on the ground and doing her sister's makeup I knew it was going to be a lovely day. There's something about close families which make you love being around them even more, and they were definitely a sweet bunch!

Marissa's gown suited her perfectly, a gorgeous number from Johanna Johnson...

Adrian and the boys looking spunky! Apparently Joel had the help of some homemade italian limoncello to start his day and I think maybe we should make it a bit more regular :P

We were waking back to the cars and I spotted this guy just minding his own business trying to read a book on the beach but next to him was this amazing bike! I almost tripped poor Adrian over running to him to ask if I could borrow it for a shot to which he kindly obliged. Joel chatted to him for a bit while I snapped, and found out that he had made it himself. I so should have taken down his number!!

It's an unsually quiet Saturday for me with a wedding to start later this afternoon which has given me a chance to shrink my to do list a little. Just wanted to post this little sweetie, fast asleep on her mothers shoulder with a nice river of drool trailing down her back. Snapped at an indian mehendi I had the pleasure of being part of this week!

The Fringe

Yep, it's that time of the month again where I get to share something a little different on the blog. I've had my eye on this venue for a shoot for ages and so glad everything finally aligned for the creative collaboration. For this shoot, I got in contact with Luom, the designer behind the elegant Luomo Bridal line, and set off a bit of a spark between her and Yummii who has her own gorgeous self titled line of headpieces which worked together perfectly for the look I had in mind. Brides if you are looking for a dress in this style, do check out these two lovely ladies!!

A massive thanks to everyone involved, for putting up with my countless messages, helping me get this organised, and for giving your time and beautiful creative talents to achieve what we did for the day...I hope you like the result!

Luom finished this dress the night before the shoot and saw one of Yummii's pieces and quickly replaced the shoulder accessory with it for something different!

Jesse & Paul: Married!

Just this Monday past, I had the honour of shooting the shortest and sweetest wedding ever. Jesse & Paul had been together for over a decade, they were engaged about a month ago, and they contacted me with a request for coverage of their registry wedding with a bit of a photoshoot hardly a week before the big day. One thing led to the other and as I had the opportunity to learn more about them we tossed around ideas for their shoot and came up with the sweetness you see below. Clients like these make me sooo happy I do what I do, and I especially like this because none of it was entirely out of nowhere, each and every item (except the cupcakes) were straight out of their home as they both have a love for homeware and architecture so it was perfect!!!

Jesse chose a Collette Dinnigan number for her day, and Paul pulled out some great tailoring from Vietnam. I really really liked the colour of his suit.

And the smell of these were too good (plus we were fighting flies), so we had to eat one!

Given the shocking Sydney weather we thought it might be best to also bring a brolley, they managed to find one on a trip out of Sydney one weekend in a very unique shape!

Special request for their little babies to also be with them somehow...oops I forgot their names, sorry!!

And they also wanted Scrabble to be a part of the shoot as well, as it is one of their favourite games....it's also some special collectors edition with the funky wooden pieces and a spin board!

Jesse & Paul, I know you only took one day off to celebrate the wedding so I hope squeezing this blog post into this week gives you another chance to smile back on the day! Thank you so so much for helping me to create this shoot, I'm so glad we had the same ideas in mind and I hope you love these as much as I do. Congratulations, xx!!!!
