| my better half |
After meeting Evon at her cousin's graduation some time last year, we kept in touch over email as she lived and worked in Hong Kong. I was delighted when she asked if I could take some pre-wedding shots for her before her big day, as she had studied in Sydney and it was a pretty special place for her. Apparently, it is quite the norm over there to get dressed up in full-gear before the day of the wedding for this purpose. I can actually see how it's quite an attractive proposition as it takes away heaps of time pressure and stress from the day itself.
We had an awesome time soaking in the summer weather that spring is bringing in, Evon and Joey - thanks for flying all the way here and allowing Joel and I the privilege of capturing these moments ahead of your big day!
Here are some of my faves...

Love the composition of the image below, taken by Joel. I'm always on the lookout for how Sydney's icon's can be done a little differently, and I think this one is pretty sweet!

Wooh! What a stunner!

Adore this dress Evon (and the wind was pretty friendly too)!

You guys both looked absolutely stunning. Evon, thanks for sharing the hair and make-up love, and Joey, thanks for not complaining once about being in a suit and bow tie in the heat! Props also to Karen the cousin, and assistant, and driver, and right hand woman who was everything to everybody on the day - you're the best!
Joel and I met with this couple early on in the year and as they walked out the door after our session we suddenly had an idea for their engagement shoot so I jumped straight on the computer and emailed through my thoughts. It had come up in conversation that Dan worked with a lot of cars and so we thought hmmm....maybe we can get an old-school car for our shoot, couple it with a pretty dress against a country setting, and let the sun and the smiles do the rest. Bec and Dan loved the idea and we had been looking forward to this shoot for ages!
Here's a few of my faves from the shoot. You both made it so easy for us to capture the images we had in our head. Loved the car. Loved the dress. Loved your smiles!!

Look at those eyes! You just know she'll be such a gorgeous bride!

Old school lovin' just coz I like it...

Oooh! Look what we have here...

The colours were absolutely perfect, and the Firebird was hot!

And just to satisfy another image in my head that I had been wanting to shoot for ages, we detoured to the cutest little strawberry stand which I always see unattended by the roadside. This images crack me up coz it looks like Bec's flirting with the strawberry man!

Bec and Dan - thank you soooo much for listening to our idea and totally understanding my spiel and bringing it to life! Can't wait to show you the rest of these images and very much looking forward to your wedding day!
On that note, if any of you couples out there have an idea/theme/concept in mind and would love to give it a go (whether for an engagement shoot or even just for fun), we totally want to hear about it and will be more than eager to see them come to life! We generally like to think we will match any level of crazy (although I'm not sure I'd ever do something like this although it definitely wins points for being unique), and we're always up for some fun!
If there's something indisputably beautiful about Australia, it's definitely our gorgeous sparkling blue waters. I'm still not quite sure why water is so blue, but it was heaps of fun enjoying it with Anna and Clem on this shoot...hope your socks dried out okay!!
This place was special to them, where they'd often sit in in the comfort of each other's company listening to the sound of waves crash against the rocks....

The ballerina makes an entrance!

And then a relaxing wind down at the local cafe afterwards. Scrump-diddly-umptious strawberry and blueberry stacked pancakes here, I'll definitely be back again for more!

Last Friday's cold-and-rainy was brought to life by this vibrant couple, celebrating their engagement with the neverfail combo of great food, friends and family. Pavina & Stephen, thanks so much for asking me to photograph this joyous occassion, hope you kept the party going to the wee hours of the morning!
This was one of their engagement presents, a beautiful cake knife engraved with all the important information...

Sweeties!

Wowies!

This was a first, scotch on a plate!

His speech included this line: "I was wondering why it was so dark in here....until I realised all of the stars were plucked out of teh sky to be here tonight." Oh, and he was talking about all the lovely guests, and not the fairy lights in the background!

Pavina's parents having a chuckle with the MC for the evening...

The groom-to-be (hmm, that phrase doesn't get used all to often does it??)

I think someone yelled out something about having kids at this stage, their expressions make me laugh!

Pavina getting her groove on!

Congratulations once again guys, and happy wedding planning!!
