Two birds and a cloudy day....

This time last Friday I was frustrated and kicking myself for being in a rush and instructing the lab to cross process a few too many rolls of film that I thought would end up having travelled the world then going to waste. This morning to my pleasant surprise I picked up a bunch of happy accidents that brought back many lovely memories of the holiday that is almost already too far away. This shot was taken just before the rains came and all the little tourists found refuge in the museum....I got lucky with the birds and I love 'em!

Have a lovely weekend everybody, will be posting more soon!!!

So it's fair to say we've been a bit tardy with our posts of late and I put it down to a number of factors: me being lazy, me lacking mojo, rainy rainy days, having too much of a good time catching up with people, and my hubby getting sick. But all is good now and it's kinda nice to be only a few days away from our cozy little apartment. We said to each other that the first thing we are going to do is get into some trackpants and drink hot tea....so sexy.

Back to posting about NYC. I'll try and jog my memory with some of the images below but in summary we had a nice slow-paced week there in the comfort of our own little studio apartment in Chelsea and the great company of Tram who is the best host ever (if you are reading this....thank you!!!).

We flew into a massive storm the night before and woke up to one the next morning, but that didn't stop us from taking advantage of the free summer concerts they had at Central Park...we managed to catch some of Kelly Clarkson which was fun. Walking Tram's dog Munchie in the park and saying hello to other dogs made us feel like locals :P

Trump Tower reflected in a fat puddle. And no, I didn't make this black and white, it is a true reflection (excuse the pun) of the day...

Spent half of a day strolling through Soho and getting lost...lots of sales but nothing that fit. Boo!

NYC (4).jpg

We were craving comfort food so headed to Chinatown for a cheap feed and were blown away by the size and sounds and smells of the place. It was unbelievably large! We then walked to the Brooklyn Bridge and spotted these old men hanging out reading the chinese newspaper and had to take a piccie. Unfortunately Joel got sick but we were intending to head out to the Bronx as well in search of a photo of a bunch of big black men sitting around a mahjong table yelling 'pong'...I just needed to see it with my own eyes haha!

A Broadway musical was high on the agenda for us and we hoped to get the same day discount tickets. Didn't realise the lines for those things are so incredibly long.....we amused ourselves by (both) taking part in an events for the Guiness Book of Records 'Most lipsticks applied in one hour' run by Sephora. We thought we were going to see The Little Mermaid in memory of our childhood but ended up seeing In the Heights instead...and didn't regret our decision one bit, absolutely awesome and even better since it was set in New York.

Met up with Joel's cousin the next night and he took us to a place with the best pork buns ever. I hope you can see how succulent and fragrant these things are, found at Momofuku and not to be missed!

Loved this bookshop, you could browse for hours upon hours here. Ended up picking up a copy of Susan Sontag 'On Photography' but I'm only part way through it coz it's a bit intellectual for me but at the same time quite happy that I know a few of the photographers she speaks about having seen a bit of their work throughout the photo exhibitions in Madrid. Oh on that note, we also went to see the Avedon Fashion exhibition at the ICP....I had bookmarked it months ago in Sydney and absolutely loved it.

And just a few colourful ones before I sign off. The last couple of days became dreary again with Joel in bed and the relentless rain beating down but it was nice to curl up, read a bit, and enjoy some cupcakes and numerous visits to the Chelsea markets.

Am aiming to catch up on travel records before landing back in Syd so stay tuned, we had an unexpectedly incredible time in LA and can't wait to share! Lots of love, xx!
